Greg's Knocking on the door of his bench hive
Have a look at what happens next.

Its early but its starting to happen, I have two reported cases of hives swarming in the last 4 days one in Papakura, Howick and 2 in Northland.
Nows the time to get into your hive and have a good inspection - remember NO queen excluders yet.
COME & VISIT DRURY (03.06.2014)
The Bee Hive is all for bee education, and invites everyone to come into the store to see our live bees at work.
Greg is more than happy to cater for all size groups and will give a comprehensive talk on bees.
In June we have had two large groups one of 22 the second was a group of 30.
With the larger groups we like to split them up and share the group with other interesting places in our Drury community like Cafe Palazzo (known as the red shed) or another Drury treasure is Drury Hills Winery.
Please feel free to contact Greg on 09 294 9005 to discuss a fun day out for all sizes of groups.
How to find it.
Due to the increase petrol tax courier companies are policing rural delivery charges.
If the item is delivered to a rural property and has NO rural sticker on the item The Bee Hive is  then invoiced for the amount.
We encourage our customers to be honest and to add the rural charge to their order when the item has be picked from our product list.
The rural delivery charge can be found at the start of every product list, we do not want to be in the position of not filling an order due to no rural delivery payment, or having to send you a account for the $5.00 amount.
We would also like to point out that we try very hard to keep our courier charges down and not to use them as an income stream.
The Bee Hive appreciates your help with this matter.

 This is from a school ? US/Canada

Hi there,

I just wanted to take the time to write you and let you know that my classmates and I have really enjoyed using your page (http://www.thebeehivesolutions.co.nz/pages/links) for our community beekeeping project! My tutor, Mrs. Lowe, thought it would be nice if we wrote you a thank you note (by using her email) to let you know that it's been such a great help for us to learn all about the different parts of beekeeping :)

And as a thank you, we thought it would be nice to send along another resource that we came across during the project. It has some helpful websites to learn all about beekeeping (the history, for kids and for adults, the different kinds of hives, etc) that we thought could be helpful for others - http://www.fragrancex.com/Fragrance-Information/beekeeping-adults-kids.html

And if you decided to add it to your other resources, I'd love to show Mrs. Lowe that the site was up to share with other students learning about beekeeping :)

But thanks again for your help!  And we hope to hear back from you soon.

Emma Masso (and the rest of Mrs. Lowe's students!)

P.s. Our class is going to make a honey recipe book and we can send it along once it's finished if you are interested!

Kau Whero Farm is our 22-hectare piece of paradise in Mangaroa Valley, northeast of Wellington. Aside from Jo, Ian, Em & the bees the farm is home to our beloved red poll cows (kau whero), ducks, chooks, pigs, Mr Stripey the cat, Rosie the lamb and Boy the (very naughty) dog. Often there are other WWOOFers too (check out wwoof.co.nz).

You won’t find any “numbers” in our ingredient lists—
it’s short and sweet—JUST FOOD.

We’ve kept bees for over 30 years now, so we know a thing or two about
honey’s sweet benefits—it’s a delicious, nutritious alternative to cane sugar,
and our chief ingredient.

We choose organically grown produce from New Zealand wherever possible and brew in small batches with NO additives, preservatives or ‘fillers’ (like water)—so each bottle contains deep, concentrated flavour that goes wayyy further.

Our cordial recipes are all Bees Blessing originals, sometimes based on a traditional favourite (like Lemon, Honey & Ginger, Cider Vinegar & Honey or Elderflower) and sometimes delightfully unexpected (like Mulled Lemon & Honey, Lemon & Thyme or Strawberry cordial).

Its Autumn time in Store with new products arriving. (08.03.2014)

Greg and Marguerite have just come back from the Autumn gift faire with a some new and exciting products.

They are now slowly arriving into store.

The first to be unpacked is a range of glass jars.

We all know the amazing amount of effort that bees go to to produce honey for us so the least we can do is to put this golden liquid into a beautifully designed glass jar to show it off for them.

If you missed this very important program on Sunday night (20/20 plight of the honey bee)here is the link

We now have a compressive range of Varroa treatments in store - Just search for the one you would like to use.
